Well, I had been talking to MarkDaniel Brasel about the Send-a-Vet and what they do for the greater part of a year before he finally coaxed me out to the cabin for a Trapping class. In the summer of 2018 I finally went out. I was having a ton of anxiety about being out and about around people I don’t know, but MarkDaniel Brasel and Jose Valencia spoke with me for a while until I finally relaxed. The atmosphere is remarkable! The class went great! They had some great local experts come out to show us what can and cannot be done in Idaho as far as trapping is concerned, and also went over the cage traps which are legal for use in Washington State. As the class was coming to an end, MarkDaniel pulled me aside and told me to have my gear ready to roll at the butt-crack of dawn for a bear hunt! I did not know what to say, I was mentally unprepared. I was extremely hesitant to go out because I have not hunted anything in my life prior to this! Anyway, he had William Hampton guide me out there so I didn’t have to go sit alone in the woods waiting for a bear. I was not successful in my hunt, but I was more than successful at meeting many new friends, and I was finally able to let my guard down a bit for the first time in a very long time. Thank you, send-a-vet, for the amazing experience and I look forward to helping you with your mission in the future!
